Originally the USGA was looking for sandblasted limestone tee markers, but Signs of the Times was able to provide a better alternative. These tee markers are made with high-density urethane foam. It is light and weather resistant and does not swell, shrink, rot, soak up water or attract bugs. The material is light enough to float, can be painted any color and can be formed any into shape. Each weighs about a half-pound, compared to about 25 pounds if they were made of limestone (and cost is about 60% less).
